Looking for training partners to join me on my quest!

Hi, as part of my New Year's resolutions, I've decided to play chess regularly in search of serious improvement.

I'm around 1400 ELO OTB and am looking for people who are interested in playing regular long time control games e.g. 90mins each or correspondence games where we agree to finish the entire game within 24 hours of the start time. I'm willing to exchange my game annotations.

Hopefully there will be a wide variety in playing strength, not just people around my level.

I have joined a group where I've intended to do all this already, but would like to extend the reach as much as possible. If you're interested or have any general remarks or feedback please get in touch either through this topic or via a friends request/pm.

Thanks!

I would consider joining you on your quest. How often would we be playing?

Avatar of sw_fanatic

Not sure. Perhaps once a week is good initially? Not too frequently though otherwise it could be a bit too repetitive.

Alright I'm adding everyone who's posting here. It would be nice if we could get a group and get things more organised but let's see how it goes.

Any room for a low rated player who is working to improve?

Avatar of naturalproduct

Can't you start a group so we can all join and do tournaments, etc...?

Avatar of amtemplet

I'm in.  Create a group and I'd be happy to join it.

Why not? In any case when this group is formed, we can always find each other easily now to play long unrated games until people get more comfortable...

I'm in. I would like to improve by playing slower games.

A slow chess group for lower rated players looks like a great idea, too.

Hi Guys:

sw fanatic asked me to set up the group, as I am a diamond member with that privilege. I sent you out invitations, but they may not have gone through. The name of the group is

Slow Standard Chess Group.

Look it up and ask to be added. The site is just a skeleton right now (i.e. its not fully set up).
