No a loss is a loss. I know when I'm in a losing position, I'll usually take a little longer to make sure there isn't some resource I'm overlooking.
losing

Is there a difference in the way you lose? Resignation , check mate or time control. I have a 5 day game with 3 check mates mapped, but he isn't making a move. I see him online checking it each day. Maybe it's to preserve his current rating longer? I don't think it should go down that much.
No...a loss is a loss. Your opponent has 5 days to make a move. Sometimes people will purposely not move when faced with a loss, or will drag out the last move(s) just to drag out the game. Either way you will get the win.

Yes you can, but why would you. It will have no psychological value. Maybe to feel you have some control (false)

Its the same reason people will let the clock run out, or abandon the game, instead of resigning. It makes no sense, and nothing is gained by it, but to them they can at least say they didnt resign. I think its the mentality of being able to say "I lost on time" Even though i have no idea what difference it makes.

Or maybe a loss to an American is bad in some countries
lol. I never resign. It seems to be more of a pain when you don't. So if he takes longer...he is probably planning to lose on time. This dude in a Tournament waits for about 60hrs in a 3 day game before he moves. You can see he is logged in about 6hrs/day so wth doesn't he move???

I just started playing 3 day per move games here. And i have taken pretty much all 3 days even on the first moves of the game. Why? Because i am trying to force myself to learn from each move, learn to have the patience to be able to do it, and use the "notes" section to write down my thoughts, analysis, etc. for each move.

3 days to learn from one move? I guess your rating is a lot higher from mine for it...but not to waste time on e4.

I think that kind of reasoning only adds more stress to you. If you become afraid to lose, your stress goes way up.

Probably why my stress level is way up. I need to win all 10 games. Then I'll take a break for a while you know only play live.

Yes, even on the first move(s). But not so much to learn something, but more to force myself from replying quickly.

Yes, I myself haven't got over what happened in 1898 yet...
He's down to one rook against Q,B,R,R,and 4 pawns
Sheesh......turn the tables on him, punish him by promoting all your pawns, just make sure you don't stalemate him. Eventually he'll get embarrassed and depressed and resign.
