There's always crowdfunding.
Magnus Contest- I won, BUT...
I got your back. Put $500 dollars into account #2718286669 of the Crown Prince Savings and Loan of Nigeria, and I have a friend that'll turn it into $5000 dollars by tomorrow. No questions asked.

that was actually really funny hahaha
$1600 for a two person round trip, it shouldn't cost too much.

Enjoy! :) Hope you are able to convince your parents...
Edit- Yikes, didn't realize that link was that long...
I recently won one of Magnus' facebook contests to have the chance to go to an event he's hosting in Norway.... one of the problems is, I live in New York.
The event is in like 4 ish days and I need good ways to 1) convince my parents to let me go [and one of them to come with me]. 2) Raise money fast- I was thinking about doing a donation but who would help me????
I turn to the chess community for whatever advice you can give. You are generally all good people... and it IS a great opportunity, I'm just not sure how to convince my parents and all.
