Magnus draw against the world

unbelevable that he world got a draw against magnus, right?
Yeah. If he actually tried, he would have won.

Yeah. If he actually tried, he would have won.
Do you have any proof that he didn't actually try?

He might have just been like:
"Yo, chill out! Participants are using engines to find the best move. I'll do what I can. A draw would be fine!!"

I'm saying this coz someone looks at the engine for the position and posts the line in the comments. Then, everybody plays that move. So, basically, Magnus drew against Stockfish 17

@magipi Do you have any proof he tried?
I don't have to have one. I'm not the one who came up with an accusation.

That is even less likely. The strength difference between Stockfish and Magnus is too much.

What did @AG120502 say? He said if Magnus tried, he could have won. He just took it like any other game and played. He wasn't serious. That's what he meant. That's not an accusation. You have verbosity

Put the game into analysis. What we made were the best or the second best moves. Sometimes, someone suggested the best move, but it was top late to gain enough votes. That's when we made mistakes.

Okay, so which one is it?
Did the community play Stockfish moves and Magnus heroically fought for a draw?
Or did Magnus not take it seriously?
One of those has to be false. At least.

Yeah, actually when you think about it, playing against the world means he's playing against everyone. And i mean EVERYONE! Grandmasters, cheaters, Stockfish and other engines... Make it a draw is like the greatest achievement one could make in this game.

@magipi Do you have any proof he tried?
maybe we were toooooo strong for magnus
that's why he drew

Remember, most users will go for the safe bet, which means that there is almost 100% probability that on every single move the most expected move will have gotten most votes. All Magnus had to do was play an average game and let it all come to the predictable end.
By the way, it was very boring to follow because chess.com did not make it clear whether the move you had voted for was the one that got the most votes. If you wanted to know this, you had to keep tabs yourself for every move. In the year 2025 and all the tech that exists, not to have that feature was both disappointing and laughable.
