Maia for Arena

I have read that the chess engine Maia can play at a more human-like level. So I downloaded it and installed it in the Arena platform. Problem: this is still monster-strength, it may murder me in a more human way but it is still bloody murder. I have read that I get that human-level play by setting the search depth to 1. How do I do this within Arena though?

These settings were recommended by some lichess users several years ago. They work quite well with version 0_26_0 of LC0. They should work with the latest version of LC0, too.

Just replace the underscore with a dot. For some reason chess_com is filtering out any number with a dot.

But how do I set them within Arena? Arena just gives me the option to supply an engine with a command line argument.

Ah, just noticed that "search depth" can be affected via "Levels". Applies to all engines though then.

Wait is it really filtering every number with a dot? Let me see. 1.4

Or 0.001

For me it's fine

Engines > Manage > Details > under Installed Engines, click on the name of the engine > click on "Start this engine right now!" (top-middle portion of GUI) > Engines > Engine 1 > Configure

You can now change the engine's UCI settings. Don't forget to click on OK when you're done.
