Making opponent wait

Hi all,

I believe this is my first post, even though I've been on chess.com for quite some time. I'm a casual player, and just play for fun, as it's something I enjoy. There is something, however, that I've never really understood.

I play 3 minute blitz, and it seems like half of my wins come from my opponent just letting time expire and walking away from their computer, rather than just quitting. Once you know you are beaten and decide to stop playing, why not just quit, rather than  making the other person, and yourself wait. I've never understood why people do this. Especially people who are lower rated 1100-1300 (like myself). Do they expect to never lose? Surley at that rating losing is quite normal...

I could understand a player rated at 1900 being upset they lost a game they shouldn't, but I can't believe how many people around my rating just let the game expire rather than just conceding.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I think their approach is, making you wait may make you quit. So they are hoping for you to resign so they don't loose any points.

Those are my thoughts.

I do my part in trying to eliminate the same questions over and over.
