Making Really Sloppy Moves as a Beginner

Hey I'm really quite a beginner at chess. I've played a very small amount for a while but I'm just now really tying to learn more. I have this really bad habit though of playing well and then just forgetting about a piece or missing something incredibly obvious and losing. I'm talking about not noticing that I'm about to lose a Rook for nothing, or that there is a really obvious checkmate coming on the next move. It's just a lot more demoralizing to lose like this. Did anyone else used to have this problem and have some tips for how to get over it? Thanks a bunch.

I'd say most of us had this problem at the beginning, I had it and still have it quite a bit, but the best way to overcome it may be to play one or two long games per week, or at least not only play live chess, so as to have positions on which you will concentrate on for a lot of time, this way your visualiszation will better.

Maybe try, if it is not too hard, to play a blind game once in a while.

The best way not to fall into tactics or mates will also be to train on them yourself.

I think the best thing to do is practice to improve your game. (tactics, checkmating puzzles, endgames, etc.)

Before you move a piece, look at the board and visualise it in it's new square, then decide what you would do if you were playing the opposite colour.

It is one phase that you have to pass through!
