I played black

I had a look over the engine because i couldn't see how I felt so prepositionally lost towards the end of my game.  Bar the game changing mistake of gxh3, the computer kept trying to trade my queen.  So like, in this game I felt good, like really good until I was forced to bring my queen back to e8.  Can someone evaluate and try and give me ideas where I could improve after 21. Qxb4.

My opinion is that maybe if I am going to take that dark squared bishop and open the f file, I need somehow to prevent rooks/queen stacking up there I guess.  I couldn't seem to attack e3, which is where the weakness is that I wanted to get.  I just don't see how to prevent problems on my F file, so I tried to loosen up the pawns on A and B files so that I could try and get my rook to c2, but it just wasn't happening.  So I got a bit lost on what to do to be honest, and I ended up having to defend.

Also I felt the need to exchange my light squared bishop as it couldn't become active, and there was no way to try and get it to b4 to hit the rook on c1.  It was also going to help with loosening up the a and b files removing the night.  So although 2 bishops is best, I did feel like I couldn't put pressure on the a and b file with that night there.

Finally, there was no way to stack up the rooks on the c file, which is what I also wanted to do, due to the pressure on the f file, and the dis-cordination of my dark squared bishop blocking the f pawn if the rook was to go to c7.  The dark squared bishop was also preventing Ng5 which would have been a pain.

I hope this helps, keep looking for improvement happy.png and don't be discouraged by bad play, everyone does it - and it's good, cause it's the only way to learn. you're doing great!

Check this game out, the opening is similar to yours, and see how black opens the f-file and coordinates her pieces.

The analysis above doesn’t mention that before you accepted the Knight sac you had a completely drawn position. That your opponent found that move, then found the critical rook sac to lead to a forced mate in 7 on the very next move? I mean.that’s just outstanding attacking play for a 1500s player (assuming he’s close to your level). Otherwise agree with all of Boog’s annotation

Yup ur absolutely right, I didn't use an engine on my analysis, and I would easily conclude it lost after the knight sac, but yeah it was still holdable and only +1 for white after f5! crazy!

@IMBacon's first post: Yes, and look how the white Pawns control the dark squares while his pieces control the light.
