He beat Alekhine, who beat everyone else and Capablanca, who in turn beat everyone else. He had an even record against Alekhine before their world championship match. Chess was his hobby, not his job. He wasn't a chicken$#!+ like Alekhine on rematches or Fischer on defending the title. Yeah, Euwe deserved it and he should have just squatted on the championship until either the Soviets or unchewed meat offed Alekhine.
Max Euwe was the most classy world champion of all time. As a man he has few equals in character . However, regarding only chess ability, did he deserve to be world champion?
