I tend to get good positions in this line, but often mess up the middlegame

This is a game from a little over a year ago. I am playing white. The time control was 30 minutes with 5 second delay.

This is a OTB 40/90, SD/30+30 game I've played in February in my last tournament. I posted another game in the same tournament last month, and I watched the rerun of your analysis as always (I also watch the weekly shows!)
Games like this show why I am so pessimistic about my chess. I wish this was an aberration, but in most of my losses I am outplayed so badly in the opening or middlegame that I never even reach the endgame. This was a Daily Chess game played this month with 3 days to make a move. I have not done the computer analysis.
This game convinced me that I have to learn the Tarrasch variation just so I can avoid facing the Winawer. But my record against any variation of the French Defense is horrible.
