A few more.   Hahahahahaha.

Even if they get 250 more it's still a failure by every rational account.

Euphoric schadenfreude is a mark of severe mental illness.

How about thinking those that disagree with you are mentally ill? Is that a sign of anything?

Millern, you should wait unti the day before the tournament so you are guaranteed to spend the most money possible to enter.  Make sure you let us know when you do, so we can be in awe of your...well, I'm not sure what, but something.

ashikuzzaman

TMB.... you are a joker too! Millern, never mind about him. He is known to be making funny remarks sometimes!!

it depends on whether or not you are correct.  Innocent  if there are no easy answers then the most logical person is the most sane and the least logical person is the most ill.  unless the person in question is a great artist, then they are a genius regardless of how crazy they are.

behold the scale of Petrosianic scale of mental illness:

Spock----comedians----celebrities ---- news anchors----talk show hosts.

(sane) --------------------------------->  (mentally ill)

is the person u know insane?  simply place test subject on the scale according to the archetype they most resemble.  (yes i'm a bit tipsy on making this)

There was no disagreement: I just noted that the tournament has a few more regisrtrants, without disposition.

I see you live in the Boston area, I've been told it has a good chess scene. I don't know if you play in any clubs or parks, but I may be visiting the area later this year. I'll definitely want to experience some chess. Any clubs or parks I should be sure to see?

(I know this isn't on topic to MC, but I can't send you messages.)

Dunster and Mass Ave.  There are stone tables with chessboards painted on them.  The scene is pretty lively by noon, and tables aren't hard to get, even if all the stone chess tables are taken.  (There are metal tables where people play, too.)

Thanks.

You are welcome.  There are a number of chess clubs in town, too.  Boyleston and Metro West, so look those up, too.

I drop by here every couple of months.  It doesn't change much.  I hope it's enjoyable for those who play, and it would be nice if Ashley didn't lose a load of money as he's an amusing guy and an enthusiast for chess whatever else he is.

People seem not to like it because they think people are being ripped off.  Still, if people want to play, let them play I say. Consenting adults and all that.  I'm always a little suspicious when people are aggrieved on behalf of some other imagined person.  I suppose it's a bit elitist because only fairly well off folk can play, but then so is skiing and motor racing.

Positive sentiments that I can get behind.

You see, I point out well-wishers, as well as those who are so imbued with negativity that it is only reasonable to assume some kind of mental illness has taken hold --not to mention that such diagnoses are well supported and documented by science.

Let's see.  MC 1 did not take in enough revenue to cover it's costs.  MC 2 looks as if it is going the same way.  MC 3, who knows?

Yes, these statements of fact are negative.  But, they support my opinion that MC is not a viable business concept as presently structured.  The fact that the players thought the tournament was great doesn't make the concept economically viable.  Lee and Ashley need to put a lot of thought into the future of MC, LLC.

There is nothing, not a single criticism of this event that even compares with the negitivity presented by your allegations that imply that dissent is a sign of mental illness.

Learn to read.  Next time, quote the allegation.  There was none.  Remarking that a behavior typifies mental illness and providing potentially helpful literature on self-compassion is not an allegation.  I leave it to the individual to self-identify --I don't pass judgments, just observe.

Merriam Webster is a good source for word definitions, if you don't know what "allegation" means, once your reading proficiency increases: http://www.merriam-webster.com/

Exactly, all has been discussed before. Without sponsors, they need 1500 entries to break even. Above that becomes profit. Amy Lee seemed convinced a year ago sponsors would come. How many millions is she willing to toss away before she realizes no organizers ever got sponsors for these kinds of tournaments before and she won't either? That leaves making it up with entries. MC isn't even threatening to break 1000 entries. When will she change her mind that this event will become profitable? The market for a $1,000 entry event with 1500 entries or more just isn't there....

themaskedbishop

>that it is only reasonable to assume some kind of mental illness has taken hold<

This guy is a troll...a clever one, since he suddenly appeared with all these "reasonable" posts and floral language...but notice what he's really up to...calling everyone names.  Not just mentally ill, but unproficient at reading, etc.

>I don't pass judgments, just observe.<

Very much the opposite, troll. Go away, we are onto you.

themaskedbishop

>How many millions is she willing to toss away<

THAT is becoming the most interesting part of this whole epic. And she's not tossing away millions on saving elephants or feeding hungry kids...she's giving it to people like Wesley So and Ray Robson for winning a few chess games.

This guy is a troll...a clever one

Holding in abeyance judgment, while assessing the evidence available, is not passing judgment.  Just because something is reasonable doesn't mean it's true.  Assessing a state of affairs does not mean passing final judgment.  I am not a rhetorician who seeks to persuade  --I don't care what most people think, especially strangers--, so that's your faulty assumption and skewed view of things.

themaskedbishop

>-I don't care what most people think, especially strangers<

Really? Your profile indicates otherwise. It's a rather lengthy testament to just how fascinating we all should find you.
