Min and max rating matchups

Will I improve faster if I play people better than me? Right now I have my match ups set at the deafult, min -200 and max +200. I'm wondering if it would be beneficial to change it to somthing like min +100 max +300.

Not necessarily.  It's like asking "will a first-grader get better at math quicker if he sits in high school math classes".

I'd rather try to keep playing "higher rateds" until my %age of wins hovers around 60% .. .and then keep playing in that field.  Once your %age of wins increases above this window, you are evidently getting better and you can justifiably seek out stronger players.

Conversely, if you are losing more than 60% of your games, you are probably playing too high up and need to seek out lower rated opposition.

This sweet 60% spot really ties to your comfort zone ... because nobody does anything unless its fun ... so getting your a## beaten too often takes the fun away .. but winning too often doesn't push/challenge you enough to improve.

I use -100 +100, it doesn't seem like much of a difference although it certainly is. And I have to disagree with Shivsky here, for some people jumping in at the deep end really is the best way to learn how to swim, but not everybody.

What all this boils down to is really just to experiment and find what works for you.
