I wonder that too. Likewise, is there any GM who plays the Old Indian Defense on a regular or semi-regular basis? Also, the Chigorin on a regular basis.

There are a lot of GMs, and 2500s can get away with a lot... just look at what players like Rapport play.
So yes, I'm sure there are plenty, as the pirc/modern is fine. Old Indian and Chigorin not as much. At least the Chigorin can lead to unique positions, the old indian is somewhat passive.
