Something I would like to understand is why the fide certification system is so restricted?
Would it be fair and also intelligent from the Federation's point of view to certify only 1% of chess players?
how many players reach the 2200 level to get the CM title?
A chess player could receive the title of national master with 2100 and candidate for national master with 2000 .. and even then it would still be a very small portion of the players who would get this title .. how many players in the world would feel more motivated to try an international title that rewards those who have reached the 1800 rating? we should not necessarily give these players the name of masters .. but why not intermediate player?
the federation could urgently review this issue, it would be less ridiculous than the online arena titles that few actually give importance to. the current qualifications only serve to separate a small group of players but we need to popularize the chess and the certifications help in this process.
