I got a checkmate without using fools mate and without a capture either.

My friend and I would also laugh about out "Mexican standoffs" in our games, she is the one of the few people I play on a reg basis here on chess.com.

We had a fun game once where we didn't capture any pawns until right before the end, we thought that was pretty funny but didn't even realize it at first.  I can't stand getting trapped behind my own pawns.........

I won a game recently losing only a single pawn, and capturing a single piece. it was a nice two-knight mate, with all four knights on adjacent squares.

don't know how to post the board here, too bad. It's here if anyone wants to see it

Most possible is 16x50, 16 total pawn moves and 50 moves between each pawn move.

If draws will be claimed based upon the various rules to claim them (agreement, three-fold repetition,... and in particular the fifty-move rule) then this can be stretched to 33x49 + 16. Maybe even 33x49 + 17.

That is, the first 49 (not 50 else a claim) moves made by the knights and maybe rooks. Then a pawnmove from one player. Then a pawnmove, etc. This gives 33 'blocks' of 49 moves, separated by 32 pawn-moves. The 32 pawn-moves yield 16 full moves. Whether there is an additional move depends on if the last move after which a draw is claimed by the fifty-move rule counts as one.
