And my teacher was probably only 3-500, now I think about it.
moves/openings you made when you started out in chess.
And my teacher was probably only 3-500, now I think about it.

I remember the School Biology teacher was legendary at Chess. Nigh invincible. No one even heard of a time where someone could beat him. Many tried at the end of class, but all were dispatched. Well, after a summer of studying, I came back, and it was "a big match." I crushed him, and it was as though I had beaten Kasparov to those people. It was a year later, I went to my first tournament and was about a 900 then. The teacher had to be about 500 or so. Maybe 600. But 600 will get you pretty damn far among casual players. A 900 is just an alien who can't be beaten to them. That's why I always disagree when someone says "Oh? Novices are anything up to about 1400. Only then can you study openings and anything other than how the pieces move." No. 1200-1400 is not a beginner, they are gods among beginners. 1800s are raging monsters that destroy everything in their path and leave only shattered bodies in their wake....outside of tournaments. But I'll never forget my first real opening.
1. e4 e5 (no one didn't reply e5)
2. Nf3 Nc6 (everyone did this)
3. Bc4 Giuco Piano Baby!! ....Nf6
And here it comes....
4.Ng5!! and the panic begins to set in on them. ,,,(Whatever move, they either never saw it or never refuted it)
5. Nxf7 and I've forked that queen and rook, and I'm getting a rook for a knight! (I had just read the value of the pieces, so getting a rook for a knight meant I was winning!)
I rode that opening, and a primitive Queen's Gambit to a 42-0 record, and school championship that year.
And that begs the question- what kinds of moves did you think we're amazing when you started out?
Me, for example, had this opening- (the "shield wall" defence. Literally useless. But against my teacher who was only about 4-700 at very most, it worked WONDERS.
(These are whites moves only, i can't remember black's response, but it was random moves to.)
1. H4
2. G4
3. F3
4.H5
5. A4
6. B4
7. C3
8. A5
Of course, these happened in a different order.
No I see just how incredibly FUNNY these moves are- they're that bad.
So, did you have any moves/openings which you thought were unbeatable when you started chess?
