Movies about chess?

I’d like to see movies about chess, for entertainment, not for teaching or instruction. The only one that comes to mind is “Searching for Bobby Fischer.” Can you name others? Were they good?

Queen to Play, Dangerous Moves, Endgame, Life of a King. "Knight Moves" is about a serial killer. Theres tons more where chess is a big part. Game of Shadows, 2001, Omega code...

Snookslayer, That movie was based on actual events that last game you're referring to was simplified so your average person who knows how chess pieces move could enjoy it. That mean kid as you called him actually plays here on chess.com and if you ever play him believe me you're going to feel even dumber than you did after the Movie.

Brainwashed. A German film from 1960.

Searching for Bobby Fischer was the WORST chess movie of all time. In the big climax - The kid offers a draw in a winning position... just to be nice?  Then the "mean" kid refuses it, only to overlook the most obvious pin any beginner would see.   Ugh... I felt dumber for watching it.

I loved this movie.  And I totally enjoyed the Queen of Katwe.

Snookslayer, wonderful then don't ever watch it again the world doesn't need you to be any dumber than you already are.

Snookslayer, have you seen Pawn sacrifice? Maybe it could be my new favorite Chess movie. I heard it sucked though. LMAO! Over your previous comment.

I have seen 'Pawn Sacrifice'. Liev Schreiber as Spassky was great but otherwise, the movie was ok-ish. Not horrible, but nothing memorable either.

There was a film made about the Kasparov Karpov world championship match 1990. I can't remember what it's called, might have been British tv though. They show the critical moments of ten or so games actually being played, then interview each player over a board and ask their thoughts. They both agree on best moves in most cases and the analysis, especially from Kasparov, is absolutely stunning.

What about changing the outcome of the game?

Unfortunately, you linked one with the nondescript soundtrack.  The original with the French Accordion soundtrack is found below.
