My brain mysteriously stopped working

I think I've gotten dumber over the last couple days.  That's the only explanation I have to explain why I've dropped 150 pts since then. I dropped my rating like it was hot. It's not for lack of trying or sleep either. If anyone has seen my brain, please return it to me.

OK ... Let me ask you some questions.

Did you have a fight with your brain? Was there any particular problem before your brain took off?

Is this the first time your brain left you?

Do you know where your brain possibly went?  Perhaps he went to some distant cousin's house?

If your brain does not return in 24 hours, be sure to report it to the police.

Good luck!

Have you looked down the back of the sofa?

It is probably there, right next to the TV remote.Smile

Or it could be you've gotten better at losing, which is generally the reason for dropping points.

@ Wasabi65:  All I found in the back of the sofa was a comb and 53 cents. If only I could think of something clever to spend it on!

@catnapper: an interesting consideration! I'm getting pretty pro at losing.

Lol smells, did you just make that picture? I'm impressed at your graphic abilities.

Is this yours?

Haha! Some pretty funny posts here, and, smells, I agree with Frittles-impressive.

Frittles, a few friends and I have noticed there seems to be an ebb and flow to ones playing "ability". Sometimes you have it, sometimes you don't. This seems to be especially true when chess is played daily (by amateurs like most of us), while juggling work, family, and everything else people do.

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll find your brain soon!

Now that you mentioned it, I saw a man carrying a large brain down Interstate 95 heading South, on my way to work. When I get off work, and If he is still walking on  Interstate 95, I will let the gentlemen know that he has something that belongs to you, and he should return it A.S.A.P..

TMIMITW  is right on about that sometimes you have it and sometimes you don't. Its definitly odd and I've noticed the same thing. A couple three good games in a row and then suddenly you're in blunder town.

A month ago, my life sucked (long story), my main emotional condition was anger, and I was beating 1300 blitz players.  Now, things are a lot better, I'm calm and relatively content, and I'm in danger of dropping below 900.  Go figure.

My brain is mysteriously working today. I went to the store and didn't forget my list!? Odd. I think I'll play some chess!Laughing

unfortunitly that has happened to me also. big drops in my rating, thank god i have always recovered. sometimes maybe you have other things on your mind and are not fully concentrating on your chess games , also when you go higher up in rating you play more advanced people and can lose more games.  another thing you go higher up you get cocky and over confident , and take your opponents less seriously.

Every time I get to 1900 at an internet site, I go to Target and shop for posters of parking lots. This is nothing against asphalt...this is not a pro-suicide post....
