Hey @MitchellJT
First of all, good luck to your rating climb goal
I first crossed 2000 rapid just over 2 years ago. I am also an "adult improver" as I created my chess.com account shortly after I began college. I knew the rules of chess, but little else and I learned about chess.com from a friend, so I thought to create an account and give chess a try. I had no idea I'd get into chess and be here almost 7 years later!
I've never actually used the woodpecker method, but I've heard good things about it. There are many "chess things" I could give as advice for improving (my YouTube channel offers many of those), but probably the better advice I could give is barely chess related at all, but rather about purpose and determination to keep learning even when rating isn't showing immediate progress.
Here is a blog post I wrote a long time ago about "Chess Motivation Through Purpose" and the common mental trap to avoid: https://www.chess.com/blog/KeSetoKaiba/chess-motivation-through-purpose
As for chess, One video which is barely about chess (yet extremely important) is my video on my Stop-Loss System. This can help prevent you from unnecessary rating drops and "wasting" time to recover rating as often. If you want more videos on actual chess, then you can check out the rest of my channel
At the time of writing this I am currently rated 1663.
Ive started a YouTube Channel where I will be posting my journey to 2000 elo! https://www.youtube.com/@Turner_Chess
I have no clue how long it will take me to reach my goal but I'm in for the ride. Any other adult improvers have any advice for studying chess? Right now I am utilizing the 'woodpecker method' on chessable to train my tactics and have seen pretty good results. Highly recommend the course!
Thanks!
