It looks like a photoshopped felt-tip marker to me. The orientation of the letters isn't correct relative to the fingers.

there is something to suggest it isnt 100% authentic, the mirrored image is exactly wrong for how it is on his flesh if you mean the board. The hand one... not my favorite design, but if you like it, get it :)
That said, I love the way whoever made it put the time into it to make it look great. and if anyone ever does get this kind of tat, I would love it :)

The darks from the lettering doesn't conform to the depth and lighting angles of his fingers, suggesting a flat layered image that's been digitally modified. Also, the uncontrolled lettering is consistent with what you get when you hand write with a mouse.
hey guys what do you think about my new chess tattoo? I got it just now and am uploading in in general chess discussion, where it belongs. I labeled it F1, for my favorite bishop, a2 for my favorite white pawn, K for the king, and e4 for my favorite opening .
