He will. But I'm worried after his performance at Tata Steel.
Nakamura at upcoming Zurich tournament

Think aronian draws carlsen? I don't. I feel Carlsen is really training to wreck shit and cement his status.

Carlsen is too busy kissing the asses of rich Americans. The extent of his preparation is playing against Bill Gates, which is a hinderance more than anything.
I predict 2/5 for Naka, he'll lose to Carlsen and Aronian, draw Anand and Caruana, and win against Gelfand. He might lose to Caruana, or maybe a win against Anand. Based on his recent performence in the Corus, he might do worse.

I disagree. he beat him in what, 9 moves? How much prep did carlsen need? The only prep req'd was to be down 1 1/2 minutes and be black...He just loves chess and, IMO, is going to be a great ambasador*sp* of chess. Especially with kasparov's approval and support.

Carlsen has been AWOL since winning the title. I'd like to see Aronian crush him in Zurich and then qualify for the WCM. That should be maximally motivating for Carlsen.

Valid point and respectful opinion but I have my own. Carlsen is just the Wayne Gretzky or Michael Jordan of their field. Won't lose until retirement allows someone else to thrive.

I agree, just like in St Louis where Carlsen didn't care about winning the tournament as much as beating Aronian.

They call it the highest rated tournament in history,... 5 rounds.
that is an exhibition not a tournament

There is some tendency for chess tournaments to blurb out this kind of PR. It seems they're having Gelfand instead of Kramnik.

The 5-round classical tournament will probably be quite boring (too short for anything worthwhile to develop?) but there's a blitz event at the start on 29 January and a rapid event at the end on 4 February, both of those should be fun enough

Tough field. Will Nakamura score more than 1.0 out of 5?
