Just book up on some openings and middle game ideas. Games don't reach the endgame at your level.

If you read, I have a chess comp coming up. Plus, I have chess comps every 5 months or so.
He gave up one pawn so he can have fast development. Obviously he doesn't know what he is doing since he doesn't have time to play moves like 5... a6.
