Negative Rating?

Just a fun question. I have seen some people here who have two dozen or more games going at a time. If they timed out or lost a lot of games, what is the lowest chess rating possible? 0 or a negative number?

I think the absolute lowest is 500.

Actually, there are two players with ratings of 0 in some form of chess on this site. Nothing lower than that. I always thought the floor was 200...

The lowest rating on the site is zero. See keno123yoyo and timmaylivinalie. The policy of the site with regard to floors may not match other organizations.

There is a simulator, see post #113, which calculates a negative rating. Set the rating of both players to a low number to see this.

Man!!... to get a rating of 0 is like having luck spit in your face.

Maybe I will try for a zero rating. That at least would be an attainable goal... Tongue out

There is currently no lowest rating, but I cannot be sure, although I have never seen anyone with a negative rating.
