Netflix A queens Gambit fail

So I watched the netflix miniserie A queen Gambit. A very prety girl who is a real good chess player. I fail at both. Being pretty and being a good chess player. I think is impossible IRL. If not I am willing to date a smart and pretty girl.

Carmen Kass was a supermodel who did ads for Dior and other top brands. She is also a chess enthusiast and was president of the Estonian Chess Federation.

So don’t be ridiculous.

The world isn't always fair to everyone. Some people have everything. Some people have nothing.

It's possible that someone can be pretty, intelligent, rich and successful, all at the same time.

It's a simple matter of probabilities. If you say that 5% of people are really smart and 5% of people are really attractive, the combined probability of being both is 0.25% ... or 25 people in every 10,000 are both. Like me. This is Carmen Kass in an ad that ran for about a year in all the top fashion magazines, and this is her taken at some tournament somewhere.

Thank you for the interesting answers. Thank you @NikkiLikeChikki for placing the picture and I like your statistics. Also take in account that not all smart and pretty people are happy. A perfect life is very very rare.

If there can be a dumb, ugly, old guy like me, why not a smart and pretty girl? This assuming playing chess is a sign of intelligence... grin.png

Yes you can be good at chess and not be smart, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a self-selection bias. In other words, smart people are more likely to choose chess as a hobby. Compare your average person at a chess club to your average person in the Walmart. Typically, though not always, the person in the chess club will be smarter. Did chess make them smart? No. Did chess’ reputation as a smart person’s activity draw them to it? More likely. Most chess people are average-looking because most people are average-looking. Again, I draw your attention to your local Walmart.

Carmen Kass is a decent chess player, but she’s no master. Why? She was traveling the world and working full-time. If you’re not spending a significant portion of your life studying and playing the game, there’s almost no chance of even getting to 2000.

Most of all, I'm pretty.

I'm pretty, too. Pretty bad at life

People generally enjoy what they are pretty good at doing.  You see it all the time in school, a subject that a person really struggles with is generally a disliked subject.

Nice side boob action on that Dior ad.
