Never played chess before!

Hi! I'm new and I have never played chess. how do I learn?

There are plenty of ways!

This site (go exploring!), books, the Internet....

If you like, you could challenge a few members to unrated games until you get the hang of things!

Chess Rules & Basics

That's a great place to go and it's on this site. It even explains semi-obscure but important things like en passant, which alot of beginners don't seem to know.

Once you get the basics, work on tactics. There are several trainers out there, and there's this one here: http://www.chess.com/tactics/

You should click on my diamond and purchase a diamond membership.  Chess Mentor will teach you, and very well at that.

Ask your father. That's how I learned.

Save yourself time and buy Chessmaster. Go through the tutorials.
