new chess format idea

i was watching a gotham chess video the other day about computers in chess, and how they need to start playing from a certain position, because it would be a draw every time if they started the game from the start by it selves.

i was just wondering, why dont chess grandmasters have something similiar? rather than them having to memorize so many openings, they can mutually agree on a position to start play from so they can study from that point on, that way itll be competitive in a different way.

maybe this is already a thing and i just didnt know. but just a thought i guess.

thats different tho because chess 960 is when the all the pieces are randomly put on the back rank rather than the normal set up

im talking about having agreed upon openings so two grandmasters could prepare from a further point in the game

I had an idea, and it's a good one.

Chess as a triathlon.

1 game of Western chess.

1 game of Chinese chess.

1 game of Backgammon for a tie-breaker.

@roccoloveswomen

You want chess to be more prepared?

well not every single game of chess should be more prepared but the same way theres classical chess and or blitz there could be a style of chess where it is prepared.
