He does keep quite active and is in the top 100 players still. A lot of his chess is very good. Some players got the best of him, but he has a lot of chess under his belt. I am impressed by a variety of his games.

20 Women v Nigel Short - in Aotea Square |
I was just looking over some games of Nigel Short from England recently. He has played some very nice chess and was up to 3rd in the world at one time. He played Kasparov for the title, but lost fairly easily as he fell behind early and couldn't catch up.
Over 50 he is playing and is having some success. Still a very good player and teacher from what I have seen.
He has made some statements about ladies in chess that truly were not as controversial as they have been made out to be, and has written some rather nice books to help people to understand chess.
I just took a fancy to checking out some of his games, and getting familiar with him a bit. I like to do that every once in awhile. I like to get to know the styles of chess played by various great players. Maybe learn something from them, or just appreciate their contribution. Maybe you do to.
I have been following him quite a bit since evaluating some of his games and enjoying his contributions to chess over the years. A few months ago I finished his book on his world championship match with Kasparov. I found both of the gentleman fascinating to say the least.
