Noob question about cheating

In poker, it's not unknown for cheaters to bring an extra ace in their sleeve to improve a hand. Do cheaters in chess often try to sneak an extra queen onto the board?

Sleight of hand?

I'm sure your opponent would notice if you put an extra queen on the board. Whether he saw it at the moment or noticed it later on.

Ok, so how about a pawn?

Of course. An opponent usually knows how much material he has

Unlike Chess, Poker has the deck, where cards have not been played or seen by either player. For this reason you can have an ace of hearts and I would not assume you were cheating because I had not seen the other one.

In chess there are 16 pieces per side. Sleight of hand would not help if you put a 2nd queen on the board. When you capture an opponents piece you have it in your possession next to the board. Even if you forgot that you captured a piece you can always check which pieces you have next to you so if you brought an extra piece you would be able to see that there were 2 queens.

In reality, there is no situation you would not notice it in - the queen capture is a major event in the match. You will either:

 - trade queens, (in which case why do they have a queen still and you are missing yours?)

 - Win/have your queen won by a clever force - These kind of tactics are not quickly forgotten

 - Blunder - These are not easily forgotten either.

I'm bad and i would notice even if it was correspondence. I always remember if materially i'm winning or losing or drawing.

I saw a video on Youtube where Marice Ashley was playing a hustler in the park. The hustler tried to take two pieces off the board with one capture.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5vnpOp0U_g

Haha. I used to steal opponents pawn when playing with my brother. It was when we were kids.
