ive recently read a suggestion for beginners to keep a notebook. i think this is a good idea, but im curious as to what i would be keeping track of. i dont have very many games behind me yet and im still learning a ton. any advice or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

thanks. happy gaming all!

Notebooks can definitely work but I assume they would be tedious. I guess you can keep track of key ideas and patterns in your games or some mistake you made. I'd suggest downloading Arena Chess which is a free interface where you can input and analyze your games or games you downloaded. But don't worry too much on keeping notes for beginners, just play many games here or where you want and do a lot of tactics problems.

thank you.

i will look into the arena chess.

the game of chess is absolutely beautiful and i very badly want to become a better player. im pretty awful at the moment. the motivation is there, but i beleive its going to be a very long road. :) happy gaming!

I have a pretty extensive set of noteboooks.

I keep records on games, mistakes, tactics, endgames exercises, annotated game- all of it.

I find I myself am much more serious when I keep records.
