Good day, chess.com community! It's LoukasLusha here.

I wanted to announce that for this next week, I will be offering 1 free trial lesson to students who are interested in taking lessons but like to test a teacher first to check for fit, credibility, etc. Normal lessons run 60 minutes. (PM for rate) Free trial lessons run 30 minutes.

Being rated 1900 on this site, I specialize in teaching chess players anywhere between the 500-1500 range on this site. I have students who have progressed between 300-700 points within the first 3 months if they truly dedicate themselves.  I myself progressed 1,000 chess.com ELO within 2 years of training. The point is, being between 800-1500 is fresh in my memory and I'd love to guide you through the process happy.png Once my students achieve 1500 or so, I am connected with many different more proficient chess coaches I'd love to recommend for further progress.

People often appreciate the passion and interactivity of my lessons. Nothing to lose in a free lesson, is there?

I'd love to meet you!

Hmm, you are 1900, but you can help someone 1500 get 700 points (2200, 300 higher than you)? How do you do that?

GhostNight

I don't think he meant it that way, more like bring you up to 1500, once at that level would refer you to instructor for above 1500. But he has brought up players up to 1500 and they were probably over 700 points down. Say a 700 or 800 rated player to 1500! That's pretty good.

GhostNight

So he could probably bring you up 300 points.

Sounds good for players my level. Higher players are out of touch with what works at lower levels

Having said that…your lessons should be cheap 😂
GhostNight

At your level you would most likely have to go to a higher level instructor for sure!

How long have you been playing, oh and nice picture, guess that is your beautiful family!!

Hi, MisterBananaHead! That's a great question. I should have specified that huge increases in ELO like that typically come faster and larger the lower the initial rating. But yeah, getting a 1500 to hit 2200 is definitely out of my ability, but guiding people onto their way of nailing 1400-1500 fast definitely is. Thanks for the question.

Jtmccann15 - Well, this is part of why I'm more than happy to let people to make up their own minds in a trial lesson. I've had more than one horrible titled teacher. Being a titled player does not a good teacher make. It certainly can, but teaching is much more than knowing. An amount of competency, however, is of course essential, which is why I like to keep around at least a 400 point rating gap between students.
