In my opinion, offering a draw repeatedly in a losing situation when your opponent has already declined a draw makes you an even bigger loser. Your opponent is more likely to respect you if stay classy and resign or play it out.

When someone does that to me I just sigh and keep trying to play the best moves. Often my opponent will run the time out but what can you do, a win is a win.

well said. thank you.

there is an option to "Not show draw requests during this game"

thanks. but i don't want to miss legitsmate draw offer.

I like to offer a draw when the person mysteriously logs off or loses connection when they are in a losing position!! I guess they don't see it hahaha

unpopular opinion: what's wrong with offering draws? the feature is there. if the game was really good might as well draw it if opponent is crying for elo.

It is just me or you also encountered MANY oponents who offerd draw (in bullet and blitz) when they are clearly at the disadvantage (material, time, position)? why they don't just resign?

they hope you accept, just don't. If it happens too many times in a game, report and block

It can happen of course. happy.png

r4: I don’t know what game you are playing, but mating sequences don’t always have every move as check; in fact, sometimes you can miss a mate if keep trying to incessantly check.

For instance, you can have a mate in 7 if you’ve blocked off a king and are pushing a pawn to queening (which is what happened). Mate was inevitable. Turns out I could’ve delivered a faster mate with rook and knight, but I didn’t want to risk stalemate so I just went for the sure mate.

Yet after each pawn move I got a draw offer. 🙄

Listen r4. You’re just wrong. Say that the king is on e8. You have a pawn on a2, a pawn on b6, and a rook on c7. The kind can’t approach the protected rook and can’t move from the back row. The pawn on the a-file marches up the board and queens. Checkmate is inevitable. And yet black offensively offers draws after each pawn move. It’s obnoxious.

It’s pretty annoying but I understand why some players want to do it.

Just keep moving, it is just another distraction.

It's probably wishful thinking, I was offered a draw when I was a Rook, a Bishop, and three Pawns up

Had a guy yesterday who asked to make it a draw like 7 times when he was losing. Because I had to keep hitting the X repeatedly I accidentally touched my knight and moved him, blundering that piece. I still destroyed him though.

If you can’t accept your loss in a game, then that says a lot about you.

It's really not that big of a deal. Realistically unless ur on the app, a draw offer doesn't restrict u in any way. By simply playing a move the draw offer disappears. The only possible irritating thing about it is the noise that a draw offer makes. Besides that, this really isn't something worth posting about.

Next time instead of clicking x, just make a move and it will count as if you've declined the offer.

Sonia: I’m not saying it’s a big deal. I’m just saying that if you employ this strategy you’re an unsporting, obnoxious loser and that Mr. Shaibel would be ashamed of you.

yeah I agree it's obnoxious. unfortunately there will always be players that will do it.

Have you ever read the book "How to cheat at chess"? I think they employ any tactic, quite unsports person like happy.png
