Online Chess with Takebacks

How do you play an online chess game with "takebacks"?

baddogno

When you go to start a new online game there is a box that says "usual settings", but if you click next to it , it rolls over to show "settings I select".  You now have a choice of (among other things) rated, unrated, or takeback game.  Have fun.

Let me be more specific about that question ...

1. How many times can you take back a move during any one game?

2. If your opponent has made his next move, is it too late for you to do a takeback?

Thanks.

Sorry dillydream, but I have yet to play a takeback game so I don't know.  Obviously I misunderstood your first question.  I assume that since this is a feature added to aid online chess instruction that you can takeback as often as you want.

I just did a quick check of the forum archives (if I were more computer literate, I'd show a link, but alas I am not ) and here is how it goes.  When it is your move, then clicking the takeback button takes back your opponent's last move.  When it is his move and you hit the button, it takes back your last move.  You could go all the way back to the beginning of the game if you wish.  Hope that helps.

Thanks Baddogno, it does help.  Actually it sounds great.  I've just been challenged to a takeback game and didn't know what to do, so your answer was really just what I needed.
