I just now played a 5/0 game against a somewhat stronger opponent.  I gambited a knight on spec in an opening I know absolutely nothing about and my opponent fell to pieces :-D .  It was only a 5 minute game, but I loved every second of it.

12. Qxg6+  Ke7  13. Bg5+ would probably have been better, I know.

mxiangqi, After your suggestion of 11...Nf6,  12. Qe5+ looks pretty durn good for white and seems to validate the "initial" sac that you claim is unsound.

But, at any rate, in blitz, at least at my level, soundness isn't something that really matters.  As Chepukaitis noted, in blitz "truth" isn't wnat matters, winning is.

Black had to play 7...de6! when he is just fine (maybe somewhat better), or, as in the game, 9...Ke7 when the position is a nice mess.

That move came to my mind briefly as we played. I would have had to save the Bishop in that case and trade Queens. But I'm a firm believer that greed will usually prevail.

Indeed. In a regular game I would play 7...de6 after due thought, but in blitz I would take the knight, play 9...Ke7 and let my good luck deal with the intricacies of that messy position...
