The chess.com visual revamps are really cool and it would be interesting to see everybody else's opinions. I'm actually not sure if its an update or not so let me know.

Is it here to stay? The match introduction phase thing disappeared, is it being tweaked as we speak?

I think it's formally released now. It had been temporarily removed to fix bugs before.

I'm not a fan of the new visuals. If I wanted to play a game on my phone in an app I'd expect to see all of this but not the main site. I know that chess.com has the new app based on 'Ye Olde' chess games and it's pretty good. I just don't want see all that here when I'm trying to concentrate and not blunder my Queen over and over

Maybe there should be an option to toggle off these new visuals if they are too jarring for people.

I dislike the animation, it's too distracting. It feels like clash royale or something, it's cool looking but it serves no purpose other to distract, it's especially not suitable for the web version. I'll look for how to disable the animation.

I just checked and to disable it one can click on the settings options in the play mode and disable both start of game animation and winning animation

Oh, that's good to know. I'll keep the animation on for now because it makes me feel cool.

Nightmare! They brought this back again - maybe for the third time and there is still no way to disable this on mobile...

You literally have to watch 2/3 seconds being lost as White before you can make a move, simply to watch an animation showing your opponent's name when you could already see that at the top of the screen anyway!

It is almost funny in a way though given chess.com "it's all about the rizz" April fools video. Turns out it literally is...

Can someone tell me what are these new changes that people are referring to ?

I am usually busy with college and come here to play 2-3 games . So haven't been able to notice them

right at the beginning of a match there is a short animation introducing you and your opponents name, preferred theme, and league level on bottom and top of screen respectively in typical 1v1 standard you see in many games. The animation appears to appear inconsistently as I'm not receiving any more.

When you or your opponent resigns, a red circle with a flag in it appears next to you or your opponents king. For a draw, a white circle and 1/2 symbol inside. The mistake, blunder, and miss icons are much smaller now and numbered in circles. I probably missed some as I (shamefully) already forgot but that's about it.
