Opponent with 350 games

I am playing against an opponent who currently has 350 games in progress. I am a queen and rook up and I am making conditional moves every time based on all his possible moves but he is just ignoring them and moving once. My simple question is why? What possible reason is someone playing in so many games and continuing when clearly lost? How can he be enjoying our game? I usually play about 10-12 games at once and resign as soon as I am lost.

I see a few people playing lots of games.  I'm currently playing a guy who has over 3000 in progress.

I guess they treat it like Blitz, and just want to get as much action as possible.

They also have a high timeout % too though.

I dont understand either one of you actually. I wouldnt play a queen and rook down, but also I would not care if my opponent did.

If it makes you feel any better (and there's really no reason it should Laughing), a number of players have been found to have over 1,000 games going at once and the current "champ" has something like 3500.  I would say there are some psychological issues for anyone with over 100 games but it's not against the rules.  I did play a 1200 with 200 concurrent games and he was sandbagging just a little bit since he had a 10% timeout loss ratio.  The 1800 I played with 200 games had a 0% timeout ratio and played a very good game.  He's up over 300 now, but like you I don't really want to have to wait 3 days for a move.  Unfortunately too many of my 3 day per move games are over in less than a week so who am I to judge?

Ubik, I don't care, I am going to mate him in 3 or 4 moves. I am trying to understand him, it seems so pointless.

That is truly amazing, there's me thinking my life was falling apart with 40 games on the go, now with 12 a bit boring but hey as much as i ( and we) love chess, still have to remember there's a life out there, lol
