OTB clocks and checkmate

Hey everyone!

Question for all those familiar with FIDE or Nation Chess Federation Tournament play: If you checkmate your opponent, but flag before you hit the clock, do you still win?  Because I believe the move isn't technically registered until after you hit the clock.

Thanks!

Even if there is mate on the board?

No with mate you win. It doesn't matter if you flag.

I agree with you JamesAgadir.

Many years ago I was at tournament where two of our top-rated players were in a similar situation.  As you can imagine, a heated argument started between the two players, almost coming to blows.  The TD ruled 'checkmate is checkmate'.

Thanks to both you and @JamesAgadir .  This is very helpful.
