OY!!! Database Overload... When did I agree to pay for THIS???
...
ADDITIONALLY, last year, Gold Members could enjoy unlimited Game Reviews; now, that feature has been magically reduced to ONE REVIEW PER DAY; ....
Membership subscriptions prior to September 1st, 2022 kept their features and pricing as long as they remained current. Memberships purchased after that, have the new features and pricing.
So a member that had gold with unlimited reviews, kept that unless they cancelled and purchased again after the plans changed.
As to potential refunds, or adjustments, staff are putting all efforts into getting the site stable and prepare for higher loads. Once all that work is done and the the total scpe of time with issues is known, that's is likely when they'll look at what will be done as it regards premium accounts.
If you need something before then, you can open a ticket with support and they may be able to give am official statement.

Never, ever, anywhere have I expected or received a 100%uptime guarantee... it's not possible these days.
Down the tubes. Had to go to Chess24 to view progress, earlier. Also forcing us to go to silly twitch, to view. I only conclude or feel ONE thing. I do not trust this platform or its management. Its all too fishy. Major announcement, now this. A plan towards the next monetization, to be able to view games.
All I keep doing is refresh the website when it does that and it works. Honestly don't complain just stop paying for it.

"Stop paying for it"?
I have already paid, as one pays for a year in advance on the promise of the offer by Chess, com for unlimited access to the service of the subscription. One cannot simply "Stop paying for it"; as it is a close-ended contract for annual service.
Surely an easy solution to the new uptick would be to limit connections from non-paying members. I don't understand how new popularity should affect those paying a lot of money for the service.
As a fully-paid member, I never agreed to receive less than 100% access in exchange for 100% of the monies Chess.com has collected from my Bank Account.
The idea that I should pay for unlimited service; and then, be essentially told "we are working on it." is unacceptable.
Pro-Rata Refunds based on FAILURE TO PERFORM are due all affected paid-members.
This a legally contracted service; and, I while I am pleased to learn the Chess.com Community has grown by leaps-and-bounds, I NEVER agreed to subsidize a "Community" with my time and money at the time I contracted with Chess.com for MY SERVICE.
Since Chess.com cannot deliver and perform the promise of it's contracted service with immediately issue pro-rata adjustments for each and every instance of paid customer being denied their service.
Accepting monies and not delivering the contracted service, NOR, offering a compensating remedy for failure to perform is FRAUD.
ADDITIONALLY, last year, Gold Members could enjoy unlimited Game Reviews; now, that feature has been magically reduced to ONE REVIEW PER DAY; and, Members are being asked to buy a Diamond Level subscription to once again enjoy Unlimited Game Reviews.
... which presumably also includes these new "Database Overload" lock-outs?
Chess.com needs to correct things IMMEDIATELY.
Do you agree?
No, nobody agrees. If you understood half of what came out of your mouth you'd be insulting yourself. Clearly you don't know how to run a website. You're not the center of the world or this website. This website doesn't belong to you, and neither does your brain apparently.
Never, ever, anywhere have I expected or received a 100%uptime guarantee... it's not possible these days.
Then why are you paying 100% of the price, when 100% access is the offer made by Chess.com?
I think chess.com is being utterly stupid. They need to stop new members until they have more capacity. Nobody is going to renew their memberships at this rate.
Paid membership, at a minimum, should at least receive priority for site use over free usage. Paid members don't see any ads, how hard would it be to add site priority access to that tier?
Besides it's their service that you are paying for. It is not designed specifically for your personal use. Besides, with more members, there is more funds which can improve the website so things like this happen less. You aren't being scammed because somebody is experiencing isssues.
Chill. They are working on the issues... No need to go bananas. I also pay. But cmon how often has this been happening during the period you have payed for premium features...? 0.001% of the that time i guess... be patient.
I´ve used chess.com for free the last couple of months and was contemplating to upgrade to a paid membership, but now? I don´t think so. I´ll watch a while longer and see how things shape up. How and how soon chess.com can fix the current problems and how/if they compensate paying members. And what about all games in which players now lose on time due to the servers being on the blink?
