That's very true, but that's the reason they set up pawn defenses. Sometimes in those cases I've had to sacrifice a bishop for a pawn which really got me in trouble.
True. I was once doing it against a relative and he attacked my before i had finished making the pawn defense.
What i do not like is when the other player sets up a pawn defense. These are tough to break through and the main peices protect the weak part of the defense. You usually have to sacrfice something to get a small opening which can be a great lose. One of the few ways of stopping the other player from doing it is to attack before they set up the defense.
