What I meant is that in draughts you can have a long term strategy based on the fact that both sides will get a confrontation unavoidably because they can not move backwards. You must take into consideration that you do not get stuck in the long run. In the meaning that you have to play a move that is bad, just because the rules force you to make a move. I know in chess there is the idea of "zugzwang", but that is more of a tactical idea where in draughts the obligation to move has both strategical and tactical consequences.
Of course chess has strategy as well and in both chess and draughts it is important to develop your pieces, but the fact that pieces in chess can move backwards makes a strategy of just freezing out your opponent unlikely to me.
Which people supposedly keep saying this? Or are you just trying to stir up trouble on a chess website, Mr. Troll?
