People resigning

There is one thing, that just gets me anoyed every time.

People resigning, 2 moves during a forced mate sequence. When they didnt resign for the last twenty moves when they were obviously not going to win it. I don't mind playing on an obviously won game, sometimes people forget that sometimes you do have to finish what you start. But don't rob me of the pleasure to deliver that mate when you forced me to play on for way longer then neccesary.

Are more people anoyed with this?

Guolin

Nope. They can either be:

A) Testing to see if you can turn a won position into a win.

B) Waiting for you to make just one little blunder that can turn the tables around.

C) Wanting you to play for a mate so that they can learn something.

D) All of the above.

A win's a win. Kudos if you had a forced mate going - the journey is more satisfying than the destination.

Those are all possibilities that I don't mind.
But please have the decency to play further that last two moves :p.

what does phil think?

I analyse the game and estimate how many moves are required for the win. Here i was hoping for 25 after move 12. ...Move 25, nooo he still wants more.

See the game.

reasons to play on.

1. be annoying.

2. try to steal your precious rating points.

3. try to steal your ideas and pick your valuable brain.

3.14.  hack into your computer while you are absorbed into the chess screen.

4.  hope for better conditions for surrender.

5.  The leader has already fled the board and a double is standing in his place, prepared to die.

6.  Their ancient monarchy prevents them from communicating with each other to decide on the surrender.

7.  hold out till his scientists at home create a super-queen that can kill your whole army in a heartbeat.

8.  It was against their religion to surrender.

9.  You, the source of all evil, must be killed at all cost.

Why did he not take your white bishop with his queen at move 12?

A lack of decency is not salient to the issue. For many years, people have resigned chess games when they have come to the realization of imminent defeat. Resignation is never indecent, whether it comes 20 moves or one move prior to checkmate.

Whether the game is won by checkmate or resignation truly does not matter. All wins are equivalent. Winning a chess game is generally what all players who start a game set out to do, and achieving that goal is a reason for a sense of satisfaction. Complaining about achieving the goal of a chess game is a waste of time and effort, as well as rather silly.

Black queen takes bishop at e2 and checkmate had the white queen taken the bishop.

Ah, I see. Thanks!
