I'm playing a guy at the moment and im about 2 moves from winning but this game has went on for about a month or more and all I can think of is he is trying to get me to quit. He has went off of and back on vacation prob about 4 tinmes. Is there anything I can do about this, or am I complaining about nothing?

Don't worry, 1/the unlimited chess games you are allowed at once is fine.

Especially since if his rating get's higher towards the end of the game, your rating will increase further when you finally win!

Wow man! You are totally upset! You are so upset that you've made some grammatical blunders when you typed your post. But, leaving accuracy aside, I fully agree with you Superpimptim! Today, at long last I managed to finish off a guy who had been procrastinating his death by resorting to the 'vacation' trick several times. Exactly as you say! Probably players shouldn't be allowed such a long time for vacation. After all, if a player is indeed going on vacation, then he should probably not engage in any more games with a couple of months of anticipation.

lol, I was trying to type while holding my daugthter

You are definitely going to win the game, so enjoy it all the more when it comes.  Also consider that this individual may have genuine reasons for needing to go on vacation and may not be delaying on purpose at all.

If its a forced mate, then set up the conditional moves and forget about it. People who vacation to prolong losses just hurt themselves.

Is it really wrong if someone is doing all they can to try and win? But it's probably two issues: that one, and "I can avoid losing by doing this so let's do it". Oh - and I can also annoy my opponent by doing this so let's do it.

That about sums it up.

I bet I could win a OTB game against Kasparov if I had kidnapped his family and threatened to kill them if he didn't lose on purpose.

So, YES, it is sometimes wrong to do "everything" to win a game. Besides, this situation has nothing to do about that, he says the game is already lost for that person.

Taking vacations doesn't (really) make you win easier. It's just annoying your opponent with no obvious advantages for the game. The sole purpose of postponing is getting your rating suddenly much higher and then much lower instead of having it steadily up and down for a bit. So your highest rating would be higher. It's the only thing I can think of.

It's not a crime though, it's just annoying. But chess is about patience, be and stay patient, maybe this game will have more educational value than your average oneWink

Not a crime, but it sounds like this particular instance could be abuse under the site rules.

It's not just vacation. A lot of people are waiting until the very end for every move when they are about to lose. Sometimes it's annoying, for example when it's the last game of a tournament.

Most of the time I think this man or woman has problems with accepting that he or she is losing. So let it be!

This may be a similar case to something that happened to me a while ago. I had difficulty connecting to the internet. I expected to find I had timed out in several games when I finally got it sorted but the system had put me on vacation automatically.

I have a game where the person has been on vaca for a while. I am two rooks up and one move from getting my queen back, which they can not stop. . . I'll wait for their 29 days of vaca to run out. He has 98 minutes left . . .
