that means that most people here (including me) are just waisting their time and they are dumb because most poeple have a pfp and very few have the PAWN

Yea I mean if we all removed our pfp we would jump 200 rating easy

Sorry genuinely didn’t mean to. Il make it up by giving you my top tips I used to get to 1200+

1.control the centre

2.try not to move the same piece twice in the first 10 moves

3. aim to castle by move 8-10 which means:

your rooks are connected

all your pieces are in the game

your king is safe

4. Bring out knights Before bishops (in general)

5. DO not bring out your queen early

6. Don’t put knights on the sides of the board (a knight on the rim is dim )

7.don’t blunder

8. Look up skewers, pins and forks

9. Try not to blunder

10. do not leave pieces undefended.
do all that you should get at least 1100

1. Definitely been burned more than once with that before

2. I play very aggressively, so sometimes I kinda have to

3. Yeah that's a solid advice

4. Debatable, especially with the London system

5. Agreed in all but one occasion - scandinavian defense, if they take my pawn, I can't not take

6. What about the sodium attack? Jk, yeah that's solid

7. I'd say a good half of my blunders are either misclicks or me rushing into things, but fair

8. My bread and butter

9. Yeah that's the goal

10. Well, fair

Yea not saying it’s perfect, that stuff just really helped for me.

Yeah, some solid advice there for sure. I've been analyzing every game I can so that I can improve. I just think it's unfair to say that us lowly 500-600 are inherently dumb. Sometimes you just get a string of bad games and drop 300 in rating. Happened to me and I'm trying to climb back up.

Yea other stuff that really helped was analysing the games after. Especially the first few moves as you can see where your going wrong in the opening, easier to do at first as well as the mistakes will be in first few moves.

eventually start working out what you should be doing so ye keep analysing.

also I didn’t say that rating was dumb at all, just said that does at that point it just mean they pretty much know the moves and maybe not know how to castle, that’s not saying they are inherently bad just that they haven’t learnt much yet?

I feel like you've described 200-400, not 500-600. There are people on that level who are starting to strategize and grow. Then again, if I had a dollar for every time people opened with E4 or responded with D5 to my D4, I'd not have to pay my phone bill this month

When I started I knew the rules and kinda understood castling and was 1000 so I just assumed that people under 1000 just knew the rules though I never played anyone below 1000 so I wouldn’t really know the difference, I don’t suppose with all the blunders there is much difference between even 400 and 600

Ye I would take issue with your move 5, remember moving same piece too many times in in first 10 moves also it’s another pawn move. At that point I think you should have instead continued your development

AliceTheMenace

Yeah the engine thinks I should've taken the pawn instead. Honestly I played fairly sloppy, but they played worse 😅
