percentile increases, rating stays the same?

my rating has been pretty much static here for several years now, as I'm pretty content just slugging away in the undignified tar pits of low level blitz. I have noticed however that my percentile has climbed from about the 33rd to the 47th percentile. what gives? has there been a mass Exodus of players? just curious...

I think there are more beginner level players playing blitz (especially with the new live tournaments) and higher rated cheaters getting caught more often.
