perpetual check

Is forcing a perpetual rude if you are majorly down on material? I hate doing it because I hate having it done, and would never do it in an even position, but if you're down say a queen what do you all think?

Of course not.  Its part of the game.

I recall my 1st OTB tournament, nearly 50 yrs. ago. 1st rd. paired with a master 2200+. Typically I entered with high expectations. Early on made and exchange sac and held my own to the end game. Was down a pawn and B vs. Rook. Seemed hopeless and resigned. Immediately following, a spectator pointed out my B sac that lead to a perpetual. Of course I was aware of perpetual check, but the possibility did not enter into mind. I was devastated, thinking of failing to draw a master. Don't know where my mind went, but it wasn't on playing my best, as I easily lost the next 5 games to <C players. There's a moral somewhere here to the story, but I'll be damned if I know what it is.

what's rude is leaving an opening for the opponent to exploit and then crying when they do.
