Petition to have a setting that hides you and your opponents ELO permenantly (can be toggled on/off)

I have a habit of psyching myself out whenever I'm close to reaching a milestone and even though there is a option to hide ELO, you can still see it after the match.

I wanted to have a option to where you can hide the ELO of a undefined time without having to use extensions. That way people don't have to worry about reaching milestones and can just play chess.  Thoughts?

Interesting idea but I think its useless for me since I would like to see my opponents elo after a game even if I couldnt see it during the game

@Vertemes That's a really good suggestion. I totally second that.

I prefer to see opponent’s rating. I can guess what he knows (or not) then.

Definetly an interesting point, but most of the time you get people in your rating range right?

Thought this would get bigger attention than it did lol.

This is already a free feature - at least on the mobile app, on IOS.

It's in the settings - you can play with the ratings hidden, so all you see is your opponent's username and avatar. See the top setting in the screenshot below:

You can still see it after the game, and they have it on PC also, I'm talking about outside of the game too.

on lichess you can play with the ratings hidden all the time, you can't see yours either. Maybe play on lichess for a while then come back to chess.com when you overcome the anxiety over rating. I probably shouldn't say this but I'm having trouble to justify using chess.com for anything other than blitz lately.

Yes, of course. My top-discipline where I play in the most serious way is Rapid. And if see 2300+ - uffffff, it will be very tough. If I see 2100 - ok, mostly no issue.

Leto

If I get opponent with 1800, I do not want me to think that it’s 2200))))

That's pretty much all I use chess.com for - blitz and bullet. Well, that, forum-chatting, and playing bots, as well.

On Lichess I use even less - blitz and bullet only. Nothing else.

blueemu

Having the option sounds good.

I wouldn't MAKE people use it, though. Just give them the choice.

Might be subjective but I feel the faster games feel nicer on chess.com than on lichess, the premoves are better here and it feels like there's a bit less lag, but the features on lichess are unrivaled and is overall less buggy than chess.com, so for studying and for rapid games I'd much rather play on lichess. Also, chess.com without a subscription feels really annoying with all the ads and limited functionality
