Because I went there one time and they set timer for hour and and half on clock and I'm like holy shit. 10 mins is fine by me. So I did it one time with hour and half.

So I am playing this guy and I am playing defense to defense until I know when to start to attack. There was like 2 or 3 moves and each time guy burned 10-15 mins on each moves( what funny is each 3 moves he burned time was only move he could do) and I'm like telling myself " come on dude only move you got is the pawn the pawn the pawn"....and finally he moved the pawn. Other move I force him to trade queen to queen with me to get my rooks in play. well he was in check and only move out of check was his queen to trade. well he burned 10 mins looking and I am like " omg dude  only move you got is the queen to my queen and I take your queen" finally he moved his queen to take my queen and I took his queen.  Finally got my 2 rooks and knight in play checkmate. what's sad is I had hour and 23 mins left on timer......he had 20 mins left. so needless to says I mostly sat, drink my soda got up to use the restroom while he sitting burning time on moves that he couldn't do but only that.  So I told myself I won't do club thing.

Well I used to do hours and hours sitting(learning as a young kid) now that I understand the games, knowing when to take and sacafice for the opponent's turn to be force to move or whatever reasons.  LIke I was saying in earlier post, the guy had no move but one and burned times. The guy even say " damn you had me in force and check i couldn't move, I says yeah you burn 10 mins for just one move to be force on. I even correct him where he mess up at and he was like oh okay I see.....I even told him it not about moving and moving....it about defense to defense and knowing when it attack in the force move and check attack for the force( meaning no move but to do that one only). Now I am not being an ego kind of guy but I grew up with my brother who beated 10 GMs in chess and he was way better than me and he told me same things what I was teling that guy. I could never beat my brother but now at leavel I am at, I can last long with him to where it either come down to me or him at the end. I just love playing chess for fun and mind thinking. I am not here to become the best or get a GM title lable on me. Thanks Cogwheel for understanding what I was looking for.

Most clubs are blitz.  Longest I've seen is G/30.  A 90 minute game is ridiculous.  Was everyone playing this?  If so, just find a different club!

Yeah, I was baffle at some of the people at that clubs.......I mean even the guy who running it telling me there people coming in this club that would beat ya. I was like dude I am not here to hear your lecturing about who going to beat me, I am here for chess club. so I watched some of the matches and I was shock and laughing in my head since need to be quiet cause I saw some moves that people did and I was like really these people playing 90 mins time of chess match and I can see this game over in 10 mins. There was some moves I saw people made a mistake. I even told one guy I play what mistake he made and he was like oh i see....I was like pffft some chess club this is and the guy telling me these people will beat me....lol so I was like know what this chess club is not for me.  It's not cause way people play but it the time they do is 90 mins is crazy.  Yes Wafflle, I am looking into different clubs but not very looking much. Think when I move back to where I am from, I'll look more into it. Until then I just wanna play.

No Harry, there blitz games all over, just gotta find the right tournaments or area( chess clubs wise) I can do 10 mins to 30 mins but hour or more I think is dumb and waste of my time.

Idk, but there only 2 chess clubs in Houston,Tx and didn't like neither of them. I am going to check into chess clubs in Austin,Tx cause that's where I am from.

Did anyone resolve this? Where's the fun blitz in Houston? I'm in town for business for a few days and want to play some games.

This explains why you are only 1302 on here - I'm going to wager that not all moves you thought were forced were actually forced.

And also, you think Game in 60 or Game in 90 is boring, try playing 40 moves in 2 hours followed by Sudden Death in 1 hour!  Those games are the best!  Game in 60 is too fast!

Learn to develop a tolerance (kinda like consuming alcohol) and start playing in longer events.  That's the only way your game will get any better.  Blitz ratings mean nothing.  Who can push wood faster.  If you start playing slower time controls, maybe one day you can become a master like I will hopefully be after this weekend (need to gain 22 points in 5 rounds, time control G/120).
