What are some examples of "having a plan" exactly? Everything I read simply says to have a plan or strategy in mind but I'm not sure I know exactly what that means in practice. Thanks in advance

A plan is exactly what it sounds like. Rather than moving your pieces around randomly, you have a goal you are trying to achieve. Masters can have far-reaching plans of varying complexity, whereas most amateurs get by with more general plans, like attacking the King. As much as possible, every move tries to realize your plan.

Looking at your games played, I would suggest you adopt the following plan or goal for every game: have every minor piece developed and castle by move 12. This will require you to focus on the right things, namely development and opening principles, and you will improve far faster than worrying about grand plans of grandmasters at your current stage.
