Actually it is a 300-500 point difference.

everyone is different. If you mean to say this is the general one, you'd be right except for the 1800-2000 players here...

The goal for me to be honest is to lose as few games as possible, which will guarantee that I'm improving between games

That's not a goal of improving -- that's a goal of winning.

Improving tends to involve losing. Losing leads to learning.

If you're only winning games, then you're going to remain unaware of many of your weaknesses.

Generally speaking, the strongest players have gotten that way by losing a staggering amount of games . . . and learning from each loss along the way.

Sorry to say but every game we play we learn something new. It doesn't need for you to lose a game to improve. The more important thing is we learn best if we are in a state of flow.

I'm Currently rated 800. How far do you think I can get in a month of chess? I geniunely feel like I might be able to get to something like 1300 in a month. (Yes it seems far fetched but my first thought was aiming for 1500)

You are rated 876 in rapid after nearly 300 games.

It is impossible to say how far you could get but simply doing the best you can is all that you can do.

It'd be nice to have a goal, I'm just curious what more experienced players would think is a reasonable one.

Setting an impossible goal doesn't help you either.  Try getting 100 points in a month.  Even I find that difficult.

lol 100 is easy in 3 weeks

I gained around 400 elo points in 40 days. The main idea isn't to focus on the elo, but the improvement. The rating will increase as the skill does.

How many games did it take you?

I am shooting for 1400 by end of this year. It’s such a grind when you only gain around 8 points per game.

I gained 162 rating points in two games... but I had to go inactive for two years first, in order to build up an RD of 208.

8 points a game is what you gain playing against someone at your rating. I have a total of about 300 rated rapid games played from when I first started this account, so I would guess perhaps 150 games.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know, lol you practically caught up to me.

The highest rated player I’ll play is 1900. I may test myself out for the 1200-1500 tournaments now that my board vision is better from the last two months of tactical training.  Another medal would be nice too.

I think I’ll take my time, with work and the busy season already here; no way can I have the energy or concentration level to grind it out.
