Reread your 1st paragraph OP. If that is not becoming upset - nothing is. “Irrationally irritated” “rolling your eyes” over if moves - moves that are often forced !

We all agree (except for a few who use it as an excuse to make the opponent wait their turn). - small potatoes.

I've always seen it more as a courtesy.

I kind of understand that people might see it as being dunked on. We are all entitled to our irrational irritations. Personally, I get internally incensed about misused apostrophes. Which is really odd because I'm not exactly a stickler for grammar and spelling, but so it goes.

I got 'upset' when my pet cat died when I was a kid. I get 'upset' when I argue with my wife. I get "mildly irritated" by online chess opponents who always move immediately in 3 day per move games. See the difference?

Let's just focus on the positives and agree that it is a trivial matter, and not worth unpleasantness over. I'm not discussing this further.

omg the cat was died i was also upset when i heared this

Why do you get irritated? No one is asking YOU to move immediately. You can use all your time if you want.

How do you premove in daily games?

I have premoves enabled yet doesnt let me do it :/

Also dont really understand the problem with premoving for example if i am playing a sicilian defense is most likely to see white play 3.d4 to which black answer 3...cxd4 i dont see any problem with premoving cxd4 it can save 2 days of a game for a move everyone know is going to happen, and can also be done with forcing moves or when offering a piece trade

They are conditional moves. After you move in a daily game, you can click the two arrows that are going through each other (it is a button near the forward button and the backwards button) and you predict your opponent's move. You cannot do it if you have not moved in the daily game, in it's place I think it is either back to first move button or a play button to play out the whole game.

Like Tonya H. said in post #15 conditional moves existed before the internet.

If it was 1980 and you were playing by snail mail and you got a postcard that included conditional moves, would you be insulted?  Just opening it up for discussion.

(The difference, apparently, that you could see it on your postcard, while on this system it happens immediately after you make your move.)

I'm old enough to have played correspondence chess using paper post cards in the regular mail.  We routinely used conditional moves since theses games took years to finish.  I was happy to see conditionals from my opponents (and even thought I should use conditionals too, out of respect for my opponent).  I won one of my snail-mail CC games when my opponent died of old age -- the ultimate "win on time" (okay to joke about it now since that was 40 years ago!).

Well that was funny.

To each his own. Players are known to play close to 1000 Daily games. They take Maximum time for every move - every game. Opponents are expected to “wait their turn until the player is good and ready to move”. This even applies to a forced move where only one legal move can be played and a conditional move was sent. They refuse to move until the time has nearly expired. After all - there are 100’s of other players waiting to be graced by their move.

All sections in a tournament may be completed but one. For an extra 1/2 year one player has everybody waiting for such a players games to end, games he’s losing badly.

Nothing to be done. Want to become upset? Understandable. Create a thread? Pointless

Lots of people do it to me

StormCentre3

Yep. Not all that uncommon to see such players. In my book it’s unsporting. Rarely was it seen in the days of correspondence by mail where “if moves” were the norm.

once i premoved checkmate and opponent says i am a cheater xD

I don't use premoves, but mostly respond immediately, then sometimes ignore the game for a psychological disruption. Valid strategy.

I've played Daily all my life. I still remember when conditionals were introduced at gameknot. Some people to this day don't like it when the opponent sets them up.

I *almost* never use them. But I've used them, yes.

And I honestly dont mind my opponent using them against me. Conditionals or not, they have to be set up by the player, so what's the difference? Im not going to resign a game just because they set up a conditional. It's not like it's an indication they are using an engine or anything of the sort.

xor_eax_eax05

I dont know. Some players even ask other players to not play conditional moves against them in their own profiles, which is ridiculous since they dont get to tell others how they make their moves. Like, wtf, what's next, "pls don't pin my pieces when you play against me"?

Sea_TurtIe

premoving a capture will temporarily stun your opponent as he will have a delayed response

Sea_TurtIe

which will drain his time
