It's not just migraines though.  Sometimes it is possible to play like an idiot just because I'm a bit tired, or in a bad mood.  The odd thing is, sometimes I just keep playing anyway, getting more and more irritated with each useless performance.  I guess it's a bit like being addicted to gambling.  At least you only lose 200 points, not £200.

I like the comparison to gambing. I was tired and kept playing anyway, losing seven games in a row. I've realized now that, if I have a headache or didn't get much sleep, I need to keep off live chess.

chess excacerbates migraines and tinnitus. no doubt about it. Take it from me. And you will not only feel sick but lose.

Yeah, done that a few times, don't play when tired, alcohol, migraine, distracted, all has an effect. Even too much Coffee can alter my concentration. The older you get the worse these thing can effect you.
